China Calls on All Sides to Stop Military Operations
Foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning made the remarks after Iran launched missiles and drones targeting US military installations in Gulf Cooperation Council states and other countries, following a US-Israel attack on Iran and the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Saturday.
At a regular briefing, Mao emphasized that the US and Israel carried out the strikes without UN Security Council authorization, which she said violates international law.
“China expresses deep concern over the spillover effects of the conflict affecting neighboring countries,” she said. Mao also stressed that the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of all Gulf nations “should also be fully respected.”
